Milledgeville Police Chief Put on Administrative Leave

Milledgeville’s top law enforcement official has been suspended pending drunk driving charges.

Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop Friday near Ivey, Georgia.

In a press release, Milledgeville City Manager Barry Jarrett said he placed Swicord on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation into the charges.

Jarrett appointed Major John Davis, the head of MPD’s Uniform Patrol Division, to serve as interim police chief while  city officials conduct their own investigation into the matter.
