Sports Report

The drought is over.

The John Milledge Academy Trojans claimed the Georgia Independent School Association baseball championship this weekend after a tight three-game series with the Trinity-Sharpsburg Lions in Macon. Trailing 4-0 late in game three, the Trojans found a way to stay alive and pull out a 6-5 victory in extra innings.

Trojans Head Coach Justin Mills told the Sports Report that he prepared his players for an unpredictable path to postseason glory.

“I just felt like that’s just the kind of year it was going to be—where it was going to push us to a third game, and we were going to be down 4-0 in the 6th inning, and we had to see if we had enough guts to pull it out,” said Mills. “And that’s what happened. It was awesome. It was an unreal feeling. It really felt like a dream.”

With the baseball championship in hand, the Trojans finish their 2016-2017 school year with dueling GISA titles. Trojans football won their respective championship in November.

Let there be no doubt, this is a year to remember at John Milledge Academy.
