In this edition of Georgia College Connections, we talk with Steven Wise, the president of the Nonhuman Rights Project, a civil rights organization working to achieve legal rights for members of species other than human beings.

According to the organizations website nonhumanrightsproject.org, the mission of the Nonhuman Rights Project is to change the legal status of appropriate nonhuman animals from mere “things,” which lack the capacity to possess any legal right, to “persons,” who possess such fundamental rights as bodily integrity and bodily liberty.

Mr. Wise came to Georgia College as a guest of the Georgia College Philosophy and Liberal Studies Department to give a talk on his work at the Nonhuman Rights Project.
